[A few days after the Boreas Festival, Rin will receive a small note from a messenger bird. The handwriting is messy but legible, and possibly familiar. There's a few words scratched out, as if he had trouble starting.]

Could you come over? I...have a question and can't really ask it over the network.

[His address is scrawled underneath.]

[Rin doesn't get too many messenger birds, so he's surprised when he gets the note after getting off work on the boat for the day. Curious with how vague the note is, Rin quickly scrawls a note back for the bird.]

No problem coming over, sure hope you don't mind soon then. Bird will probably beat me there though since I am going to change first and then head over. See you then.

[Roxas breathes a sigh of relief at the response, sending back a quick note in the event that Rin gets it.]

Now's fine. I'm just at home.

[And then he has it. Most of his energy goes into trying to clean up the place. Not that it's overly messy, but he doesn't have people over often.]

Action (sorry for the delay)

[Rin gets home, takes a quick bath to clean off the fish smell from the day and changes into jogging clothes. He jogs all the way to Roxas' place to cut down on even more of a delay.

It's only once he gets to the door having met Roxas there once before to scout out skateboarding places around town that he realizes he isn't sure if Roxas lives alone or what. Guess he's about to find out.

He knocks on the door and waits.]

[Roxas answers the door fairly quickly, after one more sweep to make sure the house is mostly clean. He's kind of amazed at how messy he can make it, especially when it's just him.]

Hey. Come on in.

Look out for the neat freak...

[Rin steps in with a bob of his head, glancing around curiously as he does so. His brows furrow a little at "mostly" clean. It's SOMEONE ELSE'S place, chill, Matsuoka, he chides himself and shakes off any twitchiness. He's way better than Ai anyway.

That makes him feel way better, honestly.]

So what's up?

[Roxas heads into the kitchen, trying to figure out the best way to go about this. He's really...unsure about all of this and doesn't know what the best move is here.

Then again, straightforward has always worked in the past.]

Elize told me that she likes me.

[Rin follows after Roxas, waiting for an answer because obviously something was eating him.

Brows shoot up in surprise when Roxas finally figures out what to say though.]

I take it that's one of your friends here, right? You've mentioned her a few times.

[There has to be more to it than that, right? Like does Roxas not see her that way? Does he need help figuring out how to let her down easy? Or...?]

There something wrong with that?

Yeah, she's one of my best friends here.

[He sighs.]

There's nothing wrong with it, I just...don't know what to say. No one's ever said anything like that to me before.

[And he doesn't know if he can reciprocate, despite what he's been told about Nobodies and hearts.]

[A lot of things flit through Rin's head. He can definitely relate to not being sure how to handle the thing, but Roxas seems like a nice guy, it's kind of surprising this is his first confession. But then again, a lot of people don't have "normal" school experiences and stuff too where that sort of thing can happen more easily he guesses. Also, WHY is he telling him?!

Rin is... far from any kind of expert on romance. He may have a soft spot for that kind of thing (that he'll deny if pointed out), but he definitely bumbled up with his own feelings and stuff for a long time before finally getting something right.

On the other hand, he's kind of flattered along with that panicked surprise. He supposes the best he can do is just tell him what he thinks, r-right?]

Sounds like she was okay without you answering right away then, yeah? Do you... like her like that? Are you not sure?

[Roxas couldn't really say why he was asking Rin about this, aside from the fact that he considered him a friend and just needed someone to talk to about this. (Axel's not here and even then, what would Axel say? Did he know about the whole hearts thing?)]

Yeah...She....I don't think she had really planned on confessing. It just sort of came out.[Thanks to Teepo mostly.]

I don't know? I mean. I like her, a lot, but...since she told me, I don't know what to think.

[Oh. Well. Rin can certainly identify with not meaning or intending to confess and it happening one way or another anyway.

Rin's quiet a few moments, mulling over what Roxas said.]

So you like her and you like being with her, but... are you not sure if it's the same way she likes you? Like romantically? Or is there some other problem?

[Talk to him, bro.]

Yeah, pretty much.

[The fact that he's a Nobody also weighs on him. But, if he is developing his own heart, that shouldn't matter, right? That his feelings are his own.]

There...is another problem, I guess. It's kinda complicated for me to explain though. The easy version is, I guess, I've never actually felt these feelings before. Ever.

[Rin isn't sure he understands how that is complicated to explain. It sounds like Roxas doesn't have experience with these kinds of feelings, that's pretty normal for a guy his age, isn't it? Maybe to have never had a crush is a little surprising, but not unheard of by any means.]

Well, the first time you feel like that is confusing for everyone, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Since she's your friend, maybe just... try and sort your feelings out while spending more time together. Maybe try going on a date, not like as just friends, but as an actual date, you know?

[He hadn't really done something like that. Well, maybe he had, but Roxas hadn't really considered that a date. And even then it kind of turned into a disaster.]

What sort of date could I take her on though? I've never really dated before either.

Well if this is the first time you may have liked someone, that's kinda to be expected? But hmm, window shopping is pretty easy for a date around here. Or a picnic in the park, though it's a little cold for something like that...

[Rin looks thoughtful for a few moments quietly, brows furrowed as he tries to think of some other ideas.] There aren't movies here, but maybe take her to a production from the theater group? Like a play, ya know? Dinner. Stuff like that.

It's less about what you go do that will make it special and more the intent, I think. Because you can do all those things as just friends, but you can also do them as dates. Ones just hanging out, one implies romance and feelings and stuff.

Does that make sense?

[Roxas is quiet, contemplating for a moment before nods.]

Yeah, it does. I guess I just never thought of it in that way. I'm just used to the friends part.

Just...how do I tell her all of this?
